Goodbye Summer

I stepped outside this morning to find that the sky is falling little drops of warm rain replenishing all that has dried and been injured from the scorching heat of summer. The leaves on the trees have just a few autumn colors, awaiting their time for descent-out with the old and in with the new. A feeling of gloom overwhelms when summer comes to pass-abandoned. Fall is beautiful, yet still warm with it's vibrant colors, but winter is malicious and cruel, yet the snow that falls and blankets the ravaged earth, giving it the impression that all is still pure and magnificent. Like an ill-humored old man, chiseling away at wood, old man clock ticking away at time-seems to stand still. Goodbye summer, goodbye floating down the river in a raft, picnics, warm breeze on the beaches, soaking in the sun, flip flops, hot warm nights, the sound of crickets-goodbye until next year, goodbye visitor. I await your predecessor with open arms. I'll await your rebirth.
